Confusion is Confused

went to the Study in Australia Open Day by iDP today at orchard hotel with ling & alex.

it was an eye opener, in terms of the amount of information i have learnt during the whole time i was there.

and yes, the more information you get, the harder it is to make a choice. henceforth, confusion.

i asked around many universities. namely Swinburne, RMIT, Curtin, Deakin, Murdoch.

mainly universities in melbourne & perth.

my top choice would be RMIT, considering the fact that they offer a degree in Industrial Design.
but Swinburne too, offering me a course in Product Design Engineering.
the difference between the 2 courses, is that the degree by RMIT is a design based course which requires a portfolio and the one from Swinburne is a engineering based course and requires no portfolio.
Both courses are related to what i have now, a Dip in Product Design Engineering.
sounds the same as Swinburne's uh?

Portfolio, is it so hard?
yes in a way. I have no software at home which allows me to draw something out, the program is way too expensive, and those pirated shops don't have it. they only have autocad and i have totally returned what i learnt to the lecturer. perhaps playing around with it can make me get my touches back. ah the days in the lab... how i miss them. lol.
the next thing is that even if i go back to my poly and get my drawings back, the thing is, do they still have it?
if i were to use the coms to draw something, i need an account. and i don't happen to be a student anymore there. Maybe i should ask my Mentor for aid. should i?

I'm in a state of confusion now. which one should i take?
Not to mention the other universities i have enquired about too.
Curtin's Product Design which majors in other stuff. eg: Creative Advertising or Furniture.
and others which does not interest me but somehow i get some exemptions. like...
Deakin's Instrumental & Process Engineering.
Murdoch is out of the question. Don't ask me why, i have no idea.

Although my interests remains with music production or audio engineering, Product Design is what i studied in poly and perhaps my thinking is that i'm much more prepared for similiar courses and although is a tedious course, its kinda interesting. designing new products, being in-charge of the manufacturing process, the materials chosen.

the next thing that is bothering me is the universities' standard.
my cousin bennett told me Curtin is shit, and he encouraged me to go Deakin. RMIT is where he graduate from and he says its a good school. and Swinburne has only got a "Not Bad" grade from him.
totally confused.
advice needed. urgently to help me make up my mind.

you know what, suddenly, i feel very useless as a spec in my unit. there was talk about favouritism (spelling check) in the shift. And i'm sure i'm not one of them. But then, somehow, i feel i have mistreated some of the men for the more "lao jiao" men.
it ain't easy controlling a bunch of people who's gonna ord in 3 mths time.
they aren't trained by you, probably you'll have to win their respect with welfare.
More welfare = Them climbing over you.
Shitty uh.
Ain't easy being a spec.
Protecting your men is the duty of a spec. But you do not forget about ops. Ops come first no doubt, but, it must make sense. sometimes, specs try to go the shortcut for the good of the men. And then again you answer to the top and bottom. your ass will get fucked by the officers. commissioned officers. you know who you are you god damn mutherfucker. the only exemption i would give is my PC. best. both of them. the before and the new one.
ah... filling in a sandwich.
spec sandwich, want some?
but then, i'm proud to be a specialist. One who is from SISPEC Bravo Company.

holidays are over

went to catch Star Wars Episode 3 on thursday with Liwei and Kendrick.
we reached at around 9, got our tickets and we were looking for a place to slack our time away while waiting for kendrick to arrive and so on...
figuring that we were watching star wars, we thought we should slack it off at somewhere which sounds associated with star wars.
and there was Star Bucks.
with a little luck, me & liwei got ourselves the sofa seats inside the air-conditioned area. and with a seat to spare for kendrick.
we began talking about recent things, the saf system, good ol'days back in tp.
and there we were, talking our hearts out, when 2 kids from the outer realms came gatecrashing into space.
they were only lying on the spare couch and not making any funny moves.
better to leave them alone. kids. :)
But we were wrong.
They were fierce gatecrashers.
They started their war cries. began climbing on top of us, doing acrobatic stunts with the sofa seats and crossing from 1 sofa to another as if they were doing river crossing in the jungle.
they even attempt to strangle liwei.
we suspect it was an attempt to get us away from our seats. tactics from the parents. we endured.
i attempted to tempt them away from the seats by telling them that the other table, occupied by some JC students who are still in their uniform at 10pm at night, that the table across was bigger and had larger sofas and they should go there and play with them.
But clever, they were.
They refused to budge. And so the question came..
Me: where's your mummy?
Boy & Girl: Mummee outside smoking.
Chee bye.
They were getting on our nerves already. Our attempts to tell them it was dangerous to climb up & down had failed.
Kids. Playful they should but, you can't really blame anyone here
we left the place and sought refuge at the nearby Mac. Mission Accomplished by the kids.

went back to camp the next day, usual stuffs. but this time i helped the man with 1 of their duties.
1500-1800hrs.
Station: Golf 1
Duty: Open/Close gate, check for passes, illegal items etc.
No. of personel for duty: 1
Yes. Alone, sitting there like a idiot. No radio no nothing. 3 hours.
I almost went berserk. Now i know why the men always carry handphones with mp3 playback.
I left the camp at around 7, went to town with liwei, ivan & guoliang. Got myself a new record,
MusikMan - Air (Robert Gitelman & Marcos remix)
Hard & techy stuff it was.
Sat down for a coffee and we headed home shortly.

the next day was spent in solitude at home with my dear football manager running the whole day, and not forgetting the night was one which i looked forward to.
It was Marco V.
His 2nd time here in singapore, his first time in singapore was a great success, therefore & after the following should not be missed.
he played some techy & energetic stuff which i love alot, from Automanual, Age of love to a unknown remix of Reflekt's Need to feel Love.
I stayed all the way until the wee hours of the morning, basking myself in the sounds of Marco V.
The vibe was excellent, the music was terrific, the drinks were non-stop. What more can you ask for a great party?

met up with the guys again yesterday, we went to katong for some billairds, got pwned by ivan.
We thought of going to play some LAN after the billaird but there was no LAN shop that was opened that late in the night, around 1:30am. So we thought of playing the water game at carson's house. And so we picked ourselves up and headed for tampines.
Instead of playing the water game. We ended up playing mahjong.
I didn't know how to played it. But now i do. yet another form of gambling i have learnt.

I'm feeling a little lethargic already, despite the fact i have to go back camp tomorrow.
Maybe its due to the fact i spent the past few days partying and having fun. Then again, its not maybe, its obviously. I wont do this kinda stuff when i go out to work next time man. It'll affect your work performance and stuff like that. But, once in awhile, i feel its ok to actually go unwind yourself.
but wtf, my unit sucks big time and i should really let them die on their own. Esp the officers. You know who you are babies.

trade

i'm currently looking to sell my headphones... currently i'm using a Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones, bought it at about july last year. still in good condition. so people who are reading my blog, ask if any your friends want to buy it...

then again, i won't mind trading my hdj-1000 for a technics RP 1210 headphone. cause its the headphone i'm intending to get to replace the current one i have not.
it has to be in good condition if better, mint condition. and probably less then a yr old

the technics boasts better bass then the pioneer imo, which will benefit me due to the music i play. demands alot of bass!
actually the best one is seinheiser but the phones are abit too small. i like it big!!!
hahaha

so guys please keep a lookout for me... please!

no use for a topic.

demo mix #2
1) Absolut & Blade - Pure Edge (Engelspost remix)
2) Markus Schulz pres. Clear Blue - Elevation (Original)
3) Solarstone vs Sirocco - Destination
4) Modulation - Spirits (Slusnik Luna Remix)
5) Sunscreem - Perfect Motion (Way out west mix)
6) Firewall - Sincere (Lange mix)
7) Chicane - Love on the run (Rob Searle Force Five Mix)
8) Whiteroom feat. Amy Cooper - Someday (Original Mix)
9) Smith & Pledger - Forever (Original Vocal Mix)

pretty mellow to progressive.

the only flaw imo, is the entry of track 6. other then that, its still quite ok(for a amateur like me) except for maybe the volume control on certain tracks. I can't really tell the difference because my speakers are already "Up the Lorry".
Favourite track has got to be Sunscreem's Perfect Motion (Wow mix).

burnt anger

today is sunday. sunday it is. the day i book out from jail. the day i am free from the woes and dumb responsibilities of army life.

the day was well spent.
very well spent.
so well spent that it burns a hole in the wallet.

I was with mike & sim. 2 of my best buds in poly. we did a lot of catching up, shared the lamest of the corny jokes that could ever be thought by the human mind together this afternoon.
we hanged pretty much around far east. did a little shopping there.
No wait, not a little. to me it was a lot.

I finally bought my cargo pants. Infact, i bought 2. 1 green & another black.
The green one was from collage which costed me 49.90. And the black one from Revoltage costed me a whopping 75.90. Wtf was i thinking at that point of time? Its not very ex imo, but it isn't cheap either. They both look really nice, too bad i don't have a cam if not i'll be able to share some pics with you guys.
I got my tote bag too today. Its from Fourskins (Support local street wear!). Its kinda big, and tough. I actually thought of getting one from blood bros but on a 2nd thought, the tote bags from blood bros are made from a very soft material which i have no idea wtf is it. And to a person who likes to stash lotsa stuffs in my bag. Not advisable really.
Some may argue that a guy carrying a tote bag looks gay, or, is gay. But i beg to differ. Imo, its never about the bag. Its how you carry it. Don't carry it and walk like a "ku niang" of course. You'll get fkn mistaken and your number will be asked for by those "body kungs" who works out at California gym. Imagine rear entry by them. HA!

I feel like typing out some stuff about army but I guess its pretty boring to read about the rants i have about army. I'm lazy to type them out really, and when i type them out, i'm naturally reminded of it and my very blood boils with anger. All i can say is, To all the people who made the new arrangements for the specs. Fuck you. You screwed our lives upside down. I'm gonna screw yours too. Watch it.

whats your favourite album? For me, its the album by Blur, the best of. Its been in my fkn discman for the past 2-3 years and i'm still loving it (hey thats a quote by mac!). Many people only rememeber Blur for only 1 track. Song 2. to me, it isn't the most impressive song i've heard from the british band. check out coffee & tv, charmless man. they are one of the many tracks in that album which are great for one who appreciates their music. not radio friendly imo because people tend to find it bullshit, not your typical british band sound like oasis or coldplay. what attracts me to them is their creativity of music. if you listen to the album you can see the variance in the style of music they've created, from moody to melancholic, from catchy tunes to tunes that bring the house down. You name it, they've done it. Don't mention metal or rap or hard rock please.

I'm gonna do a brand new mix tomorrow, probably one which is progressive. from mellow, to uplifting & euphoric, to hard stuffs. How long will it be, I do not know.
My mixing isn't really good either. Its not about the beat matching. Its about the way i mix them. I always play with new tracks or tracks which i'm not familiar with. which i think leads to some bad shit. i'll do some tracks which i'm familiar with. :)

I'm looking for a webspace to actually upload my mixes bt I can't seem to find any that offers me around 75MB of space. HAHA! I'm kinda asking too much. Anyone care to spare me some space?

burnt out leather.

its the month of may and suddenly, i'm already a 11 month old soldier.

basically the past 1 week was spent in absolute pauperism simply because i've overspent my "allowance" from the SAF.
2 days work, 1 day standby & 1 day off. a routine like this is absolute madness.
taxing for the mind. mentally.
and not forgetting your wallet.
you get to go out more then the rest of the stay in crew. and therefore, you spend more.
a lot more.
a typical afternoon at Far East Plaza during one of the off days
Friend: eh that shirt nice ah, style leh!
Me: eh not bad leh!
*checks out the price*
Me: only $34.99 leh...
and the rest is history.

for the month of may, its also kinda "suay". I've got Andy Moor playing at Liquid Room tomorrow, and Marco V at Zouk on 22nd May.
And both gigs happen to fall on the days that I'm on duty.
how sad.

seriously i don't know whats wrong with me but it seems i have a shitload of stuffs to buy.
1 of them is the Creative MuVo slim.
the picture is a bit too big for the template so i'm not gonna post it, heres the url,
http://www.creative.com/iss/images/corporate/artwork/art_muvoslim_prod.jpg

its slim, and theres a 1GB version of it. and you can see the playlist compared to the iPOD shuffle.
many may argue about the iPOD mini and Creative Zen Micro, but both of them are 5GB and I have no use for that much of memory. Yes the price, but it doesn't really matter to me. You spent more on something more "wu hua" but you don't actually use the "wu hua" part, whats the point?

heres another one the stuff on my hitlist currently,

its a sneaker by YMC, Lace up mid with textile fabric and suede detailing.
Bonded rubber outsole.you can't get it in singapore, you have to import it... its £44.95. another bomb.

to sum things up actually,
1)Denon DN-4000P CDJ (did i get the product code right?)
2)YMC Sneakers
3)Creative MuVo Slim
4)EFX-500 (effector)
5)some new clothes, esp a new black cargo pants.
6)headporter bag? or a BAPE tote bag? no idea on which to decide currently
7)new cap, those jockey caps but not camou colour obviously.
8)clear out the records in my 4djsonly.com list (URGENT)

I've just realised today that i actually have to retake my O level english to be able to at least go to australia to study.
right, i've got only a D7 for my english a few years back. now i'm totally fucked. but i think my level english commands a better result then D7, i'm not being totally confident here but hey, i think at least a C sounds reasonable right?
I'm busy surfing the MOE websites on ways to register myself as a private candidate to retake my Os but then, its suck a fucked website. Might as well just email them for advice.
In the worst case senario, i'll retake my Os next year, then i'll be wasting at least 6 months out there before being able to fly off. See, you retake during nov-dec period next year. which i will be an ORD personnel by then, thats about 4 months wasted. Then you'll get your results during march, thats another 3 months wasted. then you apply for sch, and the nearest semester you'll get is july i assume, another 4 months. 4 + 3 + 4 = 11 months. Thats fuckin 1 year. and I'll be 25.
Considering another worst case senario that I cant be exempted in Industrial Design or Manufacturing Engineering, That'll be another 3 years. For a DEGREE, not Masters yet. I'll be 28-29 already. See how fucked a situation i'm in now.
But, is it possible to retake your Os or register yourself for this coming dec's O levels during may? someone help me please.

heres a mix i did today. its only 5 tracks because there's some problems at the back so i cutted it off.
1) Blank & Jones - A Forest (Exor remix)
2) Ficitivision vs Phynn - Escape (Fictivision mix)
3) John OO Flemming - Le Voyage pt 2 Tour de Trance
4) Scott Bond vs Solarstone - Naked Angel
5) Jan Gustafsson - Hallucination

downhill ride

it never feels good to be thrown extras.
which actually happened on my last mount.

OC: did you guys do the mounting drill?
Spec: errr.... no sir
OC: why?
Spec: cos we were late for the taking over already sir.
OC: i don't care, all specs take 1x extra.

my OC wasn't completely wrong there, but if he had brains, he would actually really look into the real picture.
PC Ho gave a briefing before the mounting run, which lasted quite sometime. when we started running, it was already 9.
The men had to draw their arms, take their shower before takeover. The whole hangar had only 1 shower. There was no driver to drive anyone to AETI to have their shower. And so we had our shower in the base.
By the time everyone had their shower, it was already 10+.
what can you expect? of course the shift mounting base had the piority of using the shower first. imagine 2 shifts sharing 1 shower. 40 odd men sharing one shower.
It wouldn't actually had happened if there wasn't any complains.
But there was. from what i gather from my sources. there was a complaint about late takeover during ops brief.
i was the first convoy to reach the outposts. when i reached there, i could see that the standby shift's PC looked quite pissed. he had a "1 kind" look.
well cmon, this late takeover stuff and all, its a give & take situation. If you wanna "eat" people, you gotta be able to tahan being "eaten".
i'm not sure if its my OC or the PC who actually complained, but to the cunt. Fuck You Understand.

I haven touched my decks for quite sometime already. Not even trying out the records i got from Josh. I'm still very in love with DJing. I'll probably do a mix on thursday, no. i think i'll do 2 mixes. One trancey mix and the other a progressive one. I'll post the tracklistings up and in the meantime find a free server which will allow me to upload the mixes online and allow downloading. There's no point listing out the tracks when you don't actually get to hear the mixing.

One of my friends recently passed on. She's only 20. I'm not really close with her but we did went out a few times in a group.
Her demise was a shock to everyone of us. I'll remember her as a happy-go-lucky & cheerful person. None of us saw that coming. Let us all pray for her. Rest in Peace.
