Focal: Local

Was at SESSIONS on friday.
What a way to destress after a week of hectic studying.

It was a great night.
Shufflers aplenty, great and appreciative people who were there for the music.
Well, the music was great definitely.
A mixture of new tunes and old classics should never be missed.
Met a lot of old friends there. People like Jask, Phyllis, Aldrin, Mykel just to name a few.
Main room was playing hiptothehop. Nothing spectacular. Whats new?
But I did see a lot of schoolmates there. But they were in the main room. Not much chance to mingle around.
An interesting exchange between me and a old friend of mine, whom I shall not name said this, very mean, yet very true statement when we were chatting during the gig.

"The difference between the people in the 2 rooms(phuture & zouk), is that the people here at phuture, are here for the music. Whereas on the other side, who knows?"

How god damn true. At least, thats what I seen with my own eyes.

I'm not trying to criticise or anything. As I strongly believe in the theory of "One man's meat, another man's poison."
But, do the people really love the music? Are they really there for the music?
Its a debatable question.
One can argue about having a great night out with familiar tunes dished out by the DJ. Nothing wrong.
One can also argue that people are there to get hooked? Are they there just to know girls? Or are just plain out to "jia bah". The definition, that I shall leave it to the reader if there are any.
The most important thing is, you enjoy your night out.

But...
We have the best club in Asia in the form of Zouk, but about 3/4 of our clubbing crowd, third class.
The unappreciative, close-minded majority crowd of us. Only able to accept what the radio plays and not opened to new sounds.
Well, end of the day, different people different taste.

Kevin Jackson anyone?

Last but not least...
Great job by Brandon, Ivan, Kenny and Lionel for the music. Top notch.
Thanks Jask for the invites.

Hello world.

Exams are just looming around the corner, and I'm still preparing for it. Very busy!
Progress.
Maths - 70%
Stats - 90%
PBF - 50% (the rest are memorising ones, just read through only though.)
Econs - 50% (I thought I already understood the whole shit, until I attended the UOL external lecturer's lesson, everything back to squareONE. No lah, just need to answer more in depth lol.)
IR - ?% (Since IR is a debatable subject, and I'm roughly done with the concepts, all there's left is the knowledge of world issues.)

3rd April was Carson's birthday. Well we gave him a surprise at his house, all thanks to Mel's idea :). Ate some cake and we had the heartiest talk among all of us since a very long time ago. It was casual, some talk of their impending marriage ie; Guoliang, some out of this world stuff, and digging out each other's stupid past and laughing about it.
You know these kind of stuffs when you do when you were young, and looking back at what you did, its just deserves a good laugh.

There has been a lot of talk and criticism of the impending pay increase of singapore's goverment officials. Namely the ministers in our cabinet holding various appointments?
Is it worth the increase?
Is it the cause of the GST hike?
A superficial scan of the issue, you know, I'm not very good at this. I'm just posting my thoughts about it. I don't want to think too deep about this.
An increase in our minister's pay.
The Good
1) An anti-corruption move. With such a huge paycheck, there would be no incentives for corruption.
2) A heavier paycheck could pressure the various ministers to be more efficient, thus pushing individual government offices to work more efficiently. Think administration time.
3) Heavier paychecks could also mean ministers have more pressure to produce results. Think results as new government policies benefitting the mass public, changes to the social, education & welfare system.
The Bad
1) A bigger income gap? Considering Singapore has one of the biggest income gap in the region.(I think so, 42% ?)
2) Not a good move considering the psychological state of people from low income bracket. Could intensify their anti-government thoughts. Vote for WP? lol.
3) As what is happening now, people ranting about what good the increase would bring to the benefit of the mass public. Is there a need to increase? If there's no improvement in efficiency I probably think there would be a mass public outcry.
I haven't read about the Parliament meetings and the government's replies to the public outcry yet. I'm lazy.

Disclaimer: I'm just a newbie typing my thoughts. Just plain bullshit analysis of the issue. Please don't take it too seriously and don't take me to court. Please :(
